Let´s demonstrate what the jury meant: One of the top 10 courses, which has contributed to its success and helped build its reputation as the best-golfing destination in Europe, is Vale do Lobo, on the Algarve, that leads the field with its 2 first-class championship golf courses. The two courses are called the Royal Course and the Ocean. Both have plenty of the characteristic umbrella-shaped pines and fig trees, and either make a perfect golf base during your golfing trip to Portugal: All 36 holes are top class with many good freeways close by. As its name suggests, Ocean is located closer to the beach and the ocean, while the Royal is situated at a higher elevation further inland, with dramatic cliffs as a backdrop. Both of them lie along the Algarve – the classic golf coast. Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Course was one of the first courses to be built in Vale do Lobo, an area of the Algarve that has been synonymous with golf since the 1960s. The Royal Course features mainly natural surroundings with fewer buildings close to the course, and a stunningly beautiful part of the course stretches all the way down to the Atlantic Ocean, so you can enjoy the fresh sea air and lapping of the waves in the background while you play.

Both Royal Golf courses have undulating fairways that wind around pine trees, areas of wildflowers and beautiful lakes. The Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Course is particularly known for its green at the 9th hole which is surrounded by water, all 360 degrees around, as well as the famous.
