Namibia

Namibia

Namibia is a largely arid and brutally beautiful country. One of the emerging economies and definite places to visit in Africa. The most vivid images are those of a mesmerizing technicolor landscape composed of swirling orange dunes, shimmering mirages, and perfidious dust devils. The apparent desolation is misleading because of plant and animal life, and even the man has adapted well to this environment. The country is designed almost exclusively for the active tourist and the adventure seeker. Timeless deserts, shrubby savannahs, desolate, wind-ravaged coastlines, majestic canyons, majestic animals and sun-baked saltpans are the sights that await the tourist.

Namibia luxury safari

Namibia luxury safari

During a safari in Namibia, the range of activities you can practice in this unsurpassed environment is truly impressive. Ballooning over the desert, skydiving over land and sea, paragliding, white water rafting and sand skiing along the coastal dunes are good activities for beginners. Other fun games include abseiling – the most spectacular of rock sports, coastal and freshwater fishing, camel trekking in the desert, scuba diving, 4×4 desert races, hiking, and mountaineering.

The capital, Windhoek, is a good place to visit in Namibia and admire the historic buildings that date back to German colonial rule, while still being a modern city.

Swakopmund is another city of German origin. It is a picturesque deserted city with yesteryear charm with green lawns and palm trees.

Walvis Bay is a resort with excellent facilities for windsurfing and kayaking. It also offers the opportunity to see interesting dolphins, seals, and seabirds while on vacation in Namibia.

Sesriem and Sossusvlei in Namibia

Suitable for this vast country with epic landscapes, Sossusvlei always manages to feel isolated. The dunes, which sometimes seem out of the world, especially when the light hits them near the sunrise, are part of the 32,000 km 2 of the sandy sea that covers much of the region. The dunes reach a height of325 m and are part of one of the world’s oldest and driest ecosystems. However, the landscape changes constantly – the wind forever changes the shape of the dunes, while the colors change with the changing light to reach their peak just after sunrise.

Fish River Canyon

In the dark southern hemisphere of the Namib Desert, you will find the impressive Fish River Canyon. The canyon is the second largest behind the Grand Canyon in North America and is, therefore, the largest canyon on the African continent. This is one of Namibia’s most popular tourist attractions. It attracts visitors from all over the world to marvel at its geological majesty or to test their physical limits as they travel the ravine to the skies.

The adventures in the area are largely based on an exploration of the canyon itself as well as the surrounding landscape, part of which is integrated into the Gondwana Canyon private park. In addition to enjoying the spectacular views of the canyon at sunset and sunrise, nature walks will allow you to meet wild animals adapted to the desert, while guided walks and morning walks will introduce you to the smallest details of the desert.

Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO Heritage site

Twyfelfontein is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Kunene Region of northern Namibia. The area has been occupied for more than 6,000 years and has more than 2,500 unique rock carvings that reflect the diverse groups of people who have lived in the area for millennia.

Kalahari Desert

Everyone knows the Kalahari Desert. Namibia is an excellent destination to visit the largest stretch of sand in the world. However, there is not only sand as it has a lot of vegetation, including trees and shrubs. Spring brings an abundance of colorful flowers. It is also the home of the famous Bushmen who live in the Bushveld.

Etosha

One of Etosha’s main drawcards is the rare opportunity to see an abundance of species up close. It is not uncommon to encounter eight different species of animals converging around the same waterhole, allowing for spectacular observations. The park is also home to a healthy population of black rhinos and sightings of lions, elephants, buffalo, and cheetahs offer enduring and lasting memories.

The essentially flat and arid landscape of Etosha, as well as its relatively sparse vegetation, allows to observe game without obstruction and therefore offers fantastic photographic opportunities.
